Filmmaker Karan Johar recently had a fan moment that quickly caught the internet’s attention after he met Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in Tokyo, ahead of the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The filmmaker shared photos from the interaction on social media, giving fans a glimpse into what he described as a deeply personal and surreal experience.

Taking to Instagram, Johar expressed his admiration for Streep, calling her a major influence on his understanding of acting and character portrayal. Reflecting on the moment, he wrote, “This is not a caption. This is a confession. I am singularly obsessed and inspired by the unmatchable brilliance of Meryl Streep. In many ways she has been my guru in the art of acting & portraying characters across cinema!! I have watched The Devil Wears Prada no less than 47 times… So when I tell you that standing next to HER & them today, I felt the ground shift, please believe me.”
He also admitted that despite trying to remain composed, he was overwhelmed in the moment. “I tried very hard to be calm and composed but here’s another confession – my knees were RATTLING! They were both so warm and welcoming. This image is going in my will,” Johar added, hinting that there was more from the interaction to come.
