Ronit Roy recalls Kareena Kapoor's car being pushed by media people when Saif Ali Khan was stabbed

Ronit Roy recently shared insights about his experience during a recce of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s residence, revealing he was taken aback by the absence of basic safety measures. This year, Bollywood was rocked by the news of Saif Ali Khan being attacked at his home, suffering serious injuries that required lengthy hospitalisation.

The incident sparked widespread concern over celebrity security and the adequacy of protocols protecting them. Amid the turmoil, it was Ronit Roy’s security agency that swiftly took charge of Saif’s safety. Ronit himself accompanied Saif back home after his discharge, a move that garnered significant media attention.

During a conversation on the Hindi Rush podcast, Ronit discussed the call from Kareena Kapoor Khan asking him to intervene. “What happened is now part of public record,” he said. “What shocked me was when I spoke to Bebo (Kareena) and did a recce of the house while Saif was still in the hospital. I suggested some very basic security measures, but none of those were in place. There’s no reason why they weren’t there… but they should have been. These are basics. Every home should have them. So, I implemented those basic measures.”

When questioned about the safety protocols at the home, Ronit clarified, “I wouldn’t say they were missing, but they weren’t being paid attention to. That’s because you don’t expect something like this to happen. And that’s exactly when it does — when you least expect it. That’s what intelligence is: you assess what could happen and plug those loopholes.”

He also recounted the tense moment when Saif was returning from the hospital. “You know how crowded it was everywhere,” Ronit recalled. “When Bebo left the hospital for home, there was a minor scuffle around her car, like an attempted attack. She got really scared. There were so many media people and others who had pushed through, causing the car to shake. She called me and asked me to bring Saif home. Once he was back, we had security fully in place, with strong police support. Now, everything is fine.”

In the same interview, Ronit reflected on why he founded his security firm back in 1996. He also shared that during that period, acting offers had dwindled, and he needed to find a way to sustain himself. Taking his friend’s advice seriously, he entered the security consultancy business.
