Koena Mitra, who rose to fame with her dance song in the ‘Saaki Saaki’ from the 2004 Sanjay Dutt-Anil Kapoor’s film, Musafir has now opened up about her plastic surgery. The Apna Sapna Money Money actress also revealed that she was tortured for 3 years after she admitted to having gone under the knife.

Mitra told Aaj Tak in an interview that negative stories were continuously going on in the news which affected her work, “When I came here [to the industry], I was not aware of the modalities here. I didn’t know that you shouldn’t talk openly about your surgery. Somebody asked me, so I told them yes, I had surgery done. After that, it was as if the whole world was after me. For three consecutive years, I was tortured because of my surgery. There were so many negative things going on about me constantly on the news. Because of this, many people from the industry kept their distance from me, which also affected my work.”

Further, the actress stated that she has never regretted her choice of getting the surgery. “I have never regretted going under the knife and never will. Whatever it was, it was my decision. I don’t understand why other people have so much of a problem with it. My face, my life, whatever I do, what do others have to do with it?”

She revealed that she has said that she has faced ‘nepotism and groupism’ in the film industry. Koena said that there were no people when she needed them andno one took a stand for her as well. “It will always be my complaint with the industry that they have never said anything openly in my support,” she added.

Koena was last seen in the reality show, ‘Bigg Boss 13.’
