Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon were recently bestowed with the prestigious 69^th National Film Award for best actress. While Alia Bhatt was lauded for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kriti was acknowledged for her performance in Mimi. To celebrate the joyous moment, the actresses congratulated each other on social media. Now, in an interview, the Adipurush actress has revealed how she plans to celebrate the win with Alia.

Talking about how they were over the moon and screaming out of excitement, Kriti shared with a news portal, “She was phenomenal in Gangubai Kathiawadi. I have always admired her as an actor. I congratulated her, and we were just two girls screaming on the phone, taking it in and being happy for each other. We [said] that when we go to take the award together, we will celebrate this moment.” She further mentioned, “I had written it in my personal diary. Not many actors get to live this moment.”

Kriti penned a heartfelt note after the win

The winner’s list of the National Film Awards was announced on 24 August 2023. Elated by the moment, Kriti took to her social media to express her feelings. She also expressed gratitude towards the makers of mimi and thanked her parents. While congratulating Alia Bhatt she wrote, “Congratulations Aliaaaa! So so well deserved! I’ve always admired your work and I’m too excited that I get to share this huge moment with you! Yayyyiiee!! Biggg hug. Let’s celebrate (sic)”.

Alia Bhatt too celebrated the moment in by striking the Gangubai pose and penned an emotional note. Congratulating Kriti, a part of her caption read, “Kriti .. I remember messaging you the day I saw Mimi .. it was such an honest and powerful performance.. I cried and cried.. so so well deserved.. shine on you star… the world is your oyster.”
