Sanjay Dutt case

Two days after a warrant was issued against him, actor Sanjay Dutt appeared before a local court. The Andheri metropolitan magistrate, today, cancelled the warrant against him.

The case’ inception can be traced back to the time when a film titled ‘Jaan Ki Baazi’ produced by Shakeel Noorani was in the making. Allegedly, Dutt took a signing amount of Rs. 50 lakhs but discontinued shooting after two days. The complaint filed against him was under under section 506(II) of Indian Penal Code, which if proven true, could attract an imprisonment of up to 7 years. However, Dutt denied taking any money from the producer.

The warrant was issued after Dutt failed to present himself at the court on several dates. (Also Read: A non-bailable warrant issued against actor Sanjay Dutt for threatening a filmmaker!)

Clarifying Dutt’s absence on earlier dates, his lawyer Subhash Jadhav, stated that there was a communication gap between his client and the court, which led to his non-appearance. He, at the same time, assured that his client will be present at the court at all given dates in future.

When it comes to films, Sanjay Dutt will be a big screen comeback with Omung Kumar’s ‘Bhoomi’.
