Tabu and Atul Kulkarni starrer ‘Chandi Bar’ that released in 2001 bagged not just one but four National Awards. Now 17 years after its release, director Madhur Bhandarkar will be making its sequel. With the sequel, the director will be showcasing the aftermath of the ban on dance bars. (Also read: Aamir Khan thanks taxi drivers for their support during ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ promotions)

A source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror, “Madhur has put in a lot of research on the aftermath of the 2005 ban on dance bars and has set the film around the same time and subject. He has a lot of material ready and work on the script has already begun,”

The sequel of the film will be produced by Shailesh R Singh. Talking about the film Shailesh was quoted saying in Mumbai Mirror as “I am really excited to produce Chandni Bar 2 with Madhur as the director once again. I have already acquired the rights to the film and can’t wait to take it on the floors.”

Reportedly the film will go on floors by year-end. Now it has to be seen if the makers of this sequel will cast any of the original actors or go ahead with an altogether fresh cast.
