Nawazuddin is a performer, who relies on instincts and can go to any extent to execute the role. The ‘Manto’ actor is indeed a director’s actor and is very adaptable and thinks on his feet. In a chat with Hindustan Times, Nawaz spoke on a range of issues and dissected his acting philosophy.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, by all accounts, did a very good job while portraying Balasaheb’s character on screen.

The seasoned actor was asked about his tendency to play negative characters on screen and he said, ”I have played many positive roles like the ones in ‘Freaky Ali’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Mom’. They are not negative roles, they are grey-shade characters. ‘Raman Raghav’ was a grey character. Negative characters used to exist in earlier films when the villains only had negative qualities. I haven’t played a character with not even a single positive trait. I like playing such characters and they look good on screen.”

Nawaz further elaborated his point and said, ”Why don’t you ask other actors that why don’t they play negative roles? Our stars play only positive roles for over 20- 30 years. Why don’t you ask the stars, whom you and I are a fan of, play only one kind of role throughout their lives?”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a straight shooter and likes to speak his mind. We wish more actors can express their thoughts without fearing repercussions from fans and media.
