Rajkummar Rao in Omerta

Among the current crop of actors, if there is one actor who believes in method acting and who moulds himself completely in his character, then it’s undoubtedly Rajkummar Rao. The actor who played the role of a man trapped in a house for days on end without food, water and electricity, actually ate non-veg for his role and also cut his finger for real to write “help” in blood. Now, for his upcoming flick ‘Omerta’, the actor actually got beaten up for a scene. So, there is this scene in the movie where his character was to be hanged upside down and Rajkummar wanted to get the real effect in the scene.

He stated to a leading tabloid, “There was a scene in which the police remand Omar and I was hung upside down. The action crew and actors were required to thrash me (for the sequence). I asked them to actually beat me up. It’s important that the scene look authentic. I wanted to feel the pain because that makes Omar mentally strong. I wasn’t scared.”

Omerta is based on the life of the British born terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh who is involved in the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl (2002). He plays the titular role in the movie.
