The ‘Paadmavat’ fiasco doesn’t seem to have ended. After six Indian state Governments issued ban on  the film in their respective states, makers have now moved to the Supreme Court.

A bench of lawyers comprising of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud has decided to hear the producers’ plea on an urgent basis, since the film is set to release on 25th January. Earlier, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh imposed a ban on ‘Padmaavat’, even after the CBFC’s green signal. Latest to join the bandwagon was Haryana.

Yesterday, the Allahabad Court also issued a notice of contempt to CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, after he allegedly failed to respond to a public interest litigation that accused the film of promoting the act of Sati.
