Ramayana Ranbir Kapoor Namit Malhotra

Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, continues to remain one of the most anticipated Indian films this year. The magnum opus features a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol. The film has already generated massive buzz after its teaser release earlier this year. Now, fresh reports suggest a possible change in its release strategy for Part One.

Namit Malhotra Contemplating Preponing Ramayana

According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers may not release Ramayana: Part One exactly on Diwali 2026. Instead, the film could arrive a week earlier, on October 30, 2026. However, the official release date is yet to be locked.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Namit Malhotra wants the film to establish itself before the Diwali period. He wants the word of mouth to spread all across, so that the business peaks in the second week. He is here to redefine business by not just bringing a pre-Diwali release, but also a film that scores a bigger second week than the first due to the festive period. The conversation to pre-pone by a week is underway, and a final decision will be taken soon,”

The source also added that the release date will be finalised once the distribution deal is locked. Reports suggest that negotiations are underway for a Rs 450 crore deal with leading distributors, after which the makers will take a final call.

Meanwhile, the franchise remains planned as a two-part epic. Ramayana: Part One is now expected in late October or early November 2026, while Part Two is scheduled for Diwali 2027. The film is being made on an unprecedented scale with an estimated combined budget of up to Rs 4,000 crore. Global VFX studio DNEG is leading the visual effects work, aiming to create a cinematic experience comparable to international fantasy epics.
