Saiyaara Was Originally Aashiqui 3? Mohit Suri REVEALS Deets About Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda’s Romantic Film 

Saiyaara marks the Bollywood debut of Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday. The film has caught everyone’s attention. It is the first time Mohit Suri and YRF are working together—both known for creating memorable love stories. From the beginning, Saiyaara has given fans the feeling of being a modern-day Aashiqui. Many even called it the real Aashiqui 3. Now, that belief has been confirmed.

Mohit Suri Reveals Saiyaara Was Originally Aashiqui 3

Mohit Suri revealed that Saiyaara was originally planned as Aashiqui 3. He had been approached by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt to draft the film when they were still on good terms. Over time, the project took a different shape and became Saiyaara. Mohit said to Pinkvilla, “I know, they have a very sensitive relationship. They are friends at times, and then they are not. So, I thought of this idea for Aashiqui 3, which is now Saiyaara. But they were in a hurry and wanted to announce, which is something I was not comfortable with. I prefer in having a script first and then make an announcement. But to sum it up, yes, this idea was originally for Aashiqui 3.” 

Mohit also shared that filmmaker Luv Ranjan inspired him to write this story after watching the Netflix docuseries The Romantics. He thanked Luv for pushing him to write the love story. Mohit added, “He motivated me to write this script, and then, simultaneously, I saw some action films not doing as well as expected. Then I saw The Romantics, it spoke about the similar times that existed in the 80s. Then I wrote developed that idea into screenplay completely.”

Interestingly, Suri added that Aashiqui 2 also didn’t start as a sequel. It was first planned with big stars, then with Emraan Hashmi, but those versions didn’t work out. Eventually, the film was made with Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor and became a hit.
