Previously in Hindi cinema, very rarely we saw our mainstream actors play a negative character on-screen. We had a dedicated slot of actors and actresses assigned for playing the villain in films. But over the years there has been a change in this trend and a new wave was brought in by our new age actors.

We recently saw heartthrob Ranveer Singh play the beastly and the tyrant Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’. Upon the release of the film, Ranveer earned rave reviews for his terrific portrayal of Alauddin. Likewise, we have seen Shah Rukh Khan play a negative character in ‘Darr’, Saif Ali Khan in ‘Omkara’, Sanjay Dutt in ‘Agneepath’ and many other actors who have tried their hand at playing characters with grey shades.

However, there’s one actor who has never played a villain on-screen and its none other than Bhaijaan Salman Khan. The actor, in a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, revealing the reason behind why he would never play a negative role. He said, “Having worked in the film industry for so long, I have noticed that the youth often follow whatever a hero does. They blindly ape their favourite stars. That’s why I have decided never to play a villain on screen because people can get impressed by my actions. I don’t want my fans to follow me and indulge in any wrong-doings.”

Now that is so thoughtful of this ‘Wanted’ actor. Don’t you guys think so?

Over the year he has been a poster boy or an ideal son and lover, thanks to the kind of family-oriented films he has to his credit. On the work front, Salman is currently busy shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Bharat’. The actor recently wrapped up the Malta schedule of the film.
