Sanjay Dutt is ready for the release of his upcoming film KD – The Devil. The film stars Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Reeshma Nanaiah in pivotal roles. These stars recently graced the teaser launch event of the film in Mumbai. Sanjay Dutt recently shared his views on the current state of Bollywood and South Indian films. He said that South films are more “massy,” meaning they connect better with the general public.
Sanjay Dutt On South Films Focusing On Mass Than Bollywood
During the teaser launch of KD – The Devil, he said, South filmmakers know exactly what their audience wants and focus on delivering strong stories, emotions, and action that people enjoy. He added that Bollywood has somehow forgotten this formula. Sanjay Dutt said, “South mein massy films banti hai jo shayad hum bhool gaye hai. Thoda Khalnayak jaisa, matlab jo Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan), Dharma ji (Dharmendra) ji ne kiya voh thoda dama dol ho gaya hai idhar, but ye log nahi bhulte. Audience needs the mass, and I love the mass.”
He feels that Hindi films have become more about style and less about substance. He praised South Indian cinema for staying true to its roots and giving the audience what they expect.
The Munna Bhai MBBS actor has worked in both industries and believes that Bollywood should bring back its original charm by focusing more on the audience’s taste rather than just trying to be different. His comments have sparked discussions on the changing trends in Indian cinema and what Bollywood needs to do to bounce back.
