Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao are ruling the roost with their much-loved films ‘Sanju’ and ‘Newton’ garnering praises from the critics and audience alike. The duo have been praised for their performances in their respective blockbusters. They now have some more reasons to celebrate as their movies have been nominated for this year’s Best Asian Film Award at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards along with Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘Gali Guleiyan’.

The news was shared by the official handle for AACTA on their Twitter handle, “JUST ANNOUNCED | The nominees for this year’s Best Asian Film Award are: 1987 WHEN THE DAY COMES, THE BOLD, THE CORRUPT & THE BEAUTIFUL, DYING TO SURVIVE, @GaliGuleiyan, @NewtonTheFilm, @SanjuTheFilm, @ShopliftersFilm, @TombiruoMovie & YOUTH.”

Actor Manoj Bajpayee soon reacted to the news and tweeted, “Congratulations team @GaliGuleiyan great news.” It will be interesting to see if the movies win an award this year adding a feather to the cap for the country.

Rajkumar Hirani directorial ‘Sanju’ is a biopic on the tumultuous life of actor Sanjay Dutt. The movie also features Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza among others in pivotal roles. On the other hand, ‘Newton’, which was also India’s Best Foreign Language Film entry for the 90th Oscars, stars Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles. Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘Gali Guleiyan’ is a thriller drama that also features Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami and debutant Om Singh.

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is busy with the shoot of Ayan Mukerji directorial ‘Brahmastra’, the movie also features Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. Rajkummar Rao after the super success of ‘Stree’ co-starring Shraddha Kapoor will next be seen in ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, with Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
