Hansal Mehta and Pratik Gandhi created magic in the digital space with their blockbuster series Scam 1992. The series documented the catastrophic downfall of one of the renowned stockbroker Harshad Mehta. Now, the makers later surprised the audience by announcing another series based on 2003 fake stamp printing scam. And now the teaser of Scam 2003 The Telgi story is out!

The teaser was shared by SonyLIV on their official social media page. It began by giving an insight of 1992 Harshad Mehta scam and went on to introduce viewers to the scam of 2003, when in the “country of mathematicians, there was a scarcity of zeroes”. Then a voice reveals it was a scam of Rs 30,000 crore as the shots of piles of stamp papers appear on the screen. Without revealing the face of Telgi, the makers via dialogues have hinted what he thought. We hear him say, “I have no desire to earn money, because money is not earned, it is made”, and “If you want to progress in life, you must dare darling.”

Sharing the teaser, SonyLIV wrote in caption, “New scam, new scam-star! Khel bada tha, aur khiladi…! The story of one of India’s biggest scam by Abdul Karim Telgi, which shocked the nation with its unimaginable scale. Streaming on 2nd September, only on Sony LIV”.

About the show

Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story is directed by Tushar Hiranandani and Hansal Mehta. It has been adapted from the Hindi book Reporter ki Diary, authored by journalist Sanjay Singh, who broke the scam back in the time. Acclaimed Marathi writer Kiran Yadnyopavit has also developed the show along with Singh. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with StudioNEXT, the series will start streaming on SonyLIV from September 2. While details about the cast are under wraps, It was earlier announced that veteran theater actor Gagan Dev Riar will essay the role of Telgi.
