Shah Rukh Khan Once Revealed He Couldn’t Afford A Birthday Cake; Says, “I Come From A Lower-Middle-Class Family”

Shah Rukh Khan Reflects On His Humble Beginnings

Looking back, one of Shah Rukh’s most memorable birthdays was his 46th in 2011. That year, thousands gathered outside Mannat, waiting for hours under the sun just to catch a glimpse of him. Some fans even dressed up as his iconic characters and carried handmade posters calling him “King Khan.” When SRK finally appeared, the crowd erupted with chants of “G.One!” from his then-new film Ra.One. Always one for a dramatic moment, he delighted fans with his famous “Chamak Challo” dance step before stepping down to greet them personally.

In a touching moment, SRK shared a heartfelt gift from his children, Suhana and Aryan, a handmade poster calling him “the best father” and cheering for his film’s success. Despite the fame and chaos, he stayed humble, recalling his modest childhood. “I come from a lower-middle-class family. We never had money to throw parties or buy cakes,” he said. “Even today, I try to keep my birthday simple.”

Fast-forward to 2025, and the celebrations have grown bigger, but the warmth remains the same. A special fan meet is being held at Bandra’s Balgandharva Rangmandir, attended only by fans with exclusive passes. Later, SRK is expected to greet the massive crowd outside his under-renovation home, Mannat, continuing a tradition that symbolises his lasting love and gratitude toward his fans.
