Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is turning out to be one of the most ambitious projects of Indian cinema. While the film hasn’t yet been officially announced, the reports of its cast have taken the internet by storm. With Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Ravan, Nitesh has already pulled a casting coup. And there seems to be another big addition as Sunny Deol has reportedly come on board Ramayana too.

Sunny Deol to play Hanuman in Ramayana?

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Sunny has confirmed to star in Ramayana as Lord Hanuman. A source close to the development revealed, “Sunny Deol is all charged up to have gotten once in a lifetime opportunity to play Lord Hanuman. It’s a casting made in heaven, as Lord Hanuman stands for Strength, and who better than Sunny Deol in the present times to play the part with utmost conviction.”

Ramayana is being planned as a trilogy. While the first part will have Sunny in a guest appearance, the second and third part of the epic trilogy will have his complete presence. According to the report,Sunny will start shooting for the film in May 2024. The source added, “The makers are confident that after Dara Singh, it’s Sunny Deol who would be synonymous with Lord Hanuman in modern times.”

Recent reports had suggested that Lara Dutta will play Kaikeyi while Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to play Vibhishan. The source shared, “It’s a legacy part, and the teams are unfazed by the social media chatter. Ranbir has the utmost respect for Sunny Deol. And the latter considers Ranbir to be one of the finest actors of Indian Cinema. The dynamic shared by the two will be a treat for audiences on the big screen. The idea is to bring to spectacle the pure bond shared by Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman”. Ramayana will reportedly go on floors in March 2024.
