For the unversed, the Piku actor was the original choice for essaying the role of Sardar Udham Singh; however, after his demise, he was then replaced by Vicky.

Taking it to his Instagram account and sharing a few BTS pictures with the director Shoojit, the Sanju actor captioned it as, “Thank You @shoojitsircar Sir for taking me back in time and making me meet your #SardarUdham. An experience that took a lot out of me and gave a lot more in return. This one’s for the two friends that you always wish to keep alive, Udham Singh and Irrfan Saab.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, when asked Kaushal if it was too big shoes to fit in (on replacing Irrfan Khan), he said, “I believe those shoes can’t be filled by me or any other actor. Those shoes are completely of a different material. It’s not about the size of the shoes, it’s about the quality of those shoes. I have just tried my best in my individual capacity as an actor to portray Sardar Udham as truthfully as I could with the amazing guidance of Shoojit da. It has been a dream for me to be directed by him and this is one character that I have heard while growing up from my parents and grandparents.
