Bollywood superstar Salman Khan‘s bail plea will be heard today at the Bombay High Court. Salman’s bail hearing will start at 11 am. The Bombay High Court will decide this morning whether Salman Khan will get bail or go to jail in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Salman Khan need not be present in the court today. If his appeal is not acceded then the session court will release an arrest warrant against him and the police will take him into custody from his home. From there he will be taken to Arthur Road jail.

Two days ago, a trial court found Salman Khan guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced him to five years in prison. Shortly after the judgment was pronounced, Salman Khan’s lawyers had moved an application for interim bail at the High Court, which was granted since he had not been given a detailed, reasoned copy of the verdict on the basis of which his appeal would be heard.

Two petitions from Salman Khan will come up before High Court judge Justice AM Thipsay, one will be, a plea for bail and one against the lower court order. Salman Khan’s appeals will be argued in the High Court by senior lawyer Amit Desai, who will represent Salman’s case in Bombay High Court on Friday and not senior lawyer Harish Salve.
