Actor-politician Jaya Bachchan has over the years emerged as a powerful voice raising women’s issues both inside and outside the Parliament. Whether in politics or Bollywood, she never refrained herself from speaking against controversial issues. She speaks her heart out during interviews as well. Proof of that is an old interview of hers which is suddenly going viral on the internet. In that, she is talking about her then equation with Shah Rukh Khan and why she would’ve slapped him if the two had met at her house.

It is worth mentioning here that post Salman Khan‘s ruckus at ‘Chalte Chalte’ sets, SRK had ousted Aishwarya Rai from the film as the lead actress and replaced her with Rani Mukerji. Later, in the year 2008 when his fight with Salman Khan took place at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party, SRK had reportedly said some unsavoury remarks about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

However, during an interview with People magazine in 2008, talking about Shah Rukh Khan attending the premiere of Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Drona’, Jaya said, “Yes. Abhishek called him and said, ‘Sir, it will make a huge difference to me if you arrive.’ And he did, which I think is very gracious of him. I have a weakness for Shah Rukh.”

On being asked about his remarks against Aishwarya during his big fight with Salman Khan and if Jaya holds that against him, she answered saying, “Of course, I do. I haven’t had the opportunity to discuss it with him, and I am going to speak to him about it. If he was at my home, I would have slapped him, just as I would my own son. But I have connected with him in my soul, and that’s it.”

Jaya Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s bond was not only limited to off-screen but also on-screen when she played motherly characters to SRK in various films. King Khan shares a warm bond with the entire Bachchan family.
