In January this year, Akshay Kumar had announced his new film ‘Battle Of Saragarhi’ which would be co-produced by Karan Johar and Salman Khan. He had tweeted, “Coming together for a film produced by friends, @BeingSalmanKhan and @karanjohar, starring me! Out in 2018.” In the said movie, Akshay will be portraying the character of Havaldar Ishar Singh, who was the military commander of 21 Sikh soldiers during British India on September 12, 1897. It was popularly referred as ‘Battle Of Saragarhi’. When he had tweeted about it, there was a strong buzz about the movie, but soon there were reports that the movie has been shelved. Reports were rife that the project was to go on floors in mid-2017, but neither Akshay or Salman have any free dates until 2018. Then, we came across reports of Salman walking out of the movie as he was unaware that his dear friend Ajay Devgn is also making a movie on a similar subject. But then, he was told by Karan Johar and his ex-manager Reshma Shetty that Ajay has shelved the movie. However, when Salman got talking with Ajay on the sets of ‘Baadshaho’, he discovered that Ajay’s movie on the same subject is very much happening. So, he decided to not be a part of the co-production with Karan Johar.

But, in an interview today, when Akshay Kumar was quizzed as to whether the movie is happening or not, he said, “Yes it is happening, it is not shelved.” When asked further if Salman Khan will be co-producing it, he replied, “It’s not fixed yet, It’s being figured out.”

Talking about the movie which is helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, it will be releasing on August 11, 2017.
