Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, ‘Padmaavat’ has been under a lot of scrutiny since its inception. As if Karni Sena’s antics on stopping the release of the film was not enough, after it’s release, actress Swara Bhasker wrote an open letter to SLB that how the jauhar sequence in the movie ‘reduced her just to a vagina’. While after Swara’s this comment, few celebs came in support of her, but there were also few who bashed her for the same. You can have a look at Swara’s open letter below.

And now as per the latest development Queen Padmavati herself has given it back to Swara. In a recent interview, Deepika spoke at length over Swara’s VAGINAL comment. Though she denied reading her letter, she said that she respects the fact that she has an opinion. She quoted,

I haven’t read her letter. But I am aware of some of the comments that she has made as I have interaction with you guys (media). Whether I agree or disagree is irrelevant, but I appreciate the fact or rather respect the fact that she has an opinion.

Further adding,

I may agree, I may disagree. It goes without saying that it is important to view a film in the context of the film itself. It is important to view a film in the era it has been made. I highly doubt if you have watched ‘Troy’ or ‘300’ or any of those films, you would pick out one scene and question that. So it’s very important to view in totally and in the period that the film was being true to. And on a lighter note, as I have said, she might be out buying popcorn and missed the disclaimers completely.

Well, that was quite a blunt and firm reply to Swara’s comment by Deepika. Now it will be interesting to see if Swara will hit it back to her or not. (Also Read:SLB on not getting much support from industry for ‘Padmaavat’: This is my film, it is my battle)
