Ranbir Kapoor on Govinda’s scenes totally deleted from ‘Jagga Jasoos’: It is our fault

Ranbir Kapoor, Govinda

Recently, there was a furore on the internet when senior actor Govinda took to Twitter and expressed his displeasure about director Anurag Basu and actor-producer Ranbir Kapoor for chopping off his scenes from ‘Jagga Jasoos’. “I did my job as an actor and if the director is not happy it’s completely his call. There were various negative stories and negative articles only for Govinda and that’s how the film was remembered for three years. I was unwell and on drips but still, I travelled to South Africa and did my shoot. I was told they will narrate the film in South Africa and I didn’t even charge my signing amount, made no contracts. I gave full respect to Kapoor family. I did the film because he is my senior’s son. I was told I will get the script,” he wrote.

So today, when Ranbir was asked about the same, he was apologetic for it and stated that deleting his scenes was in the interest of the film. He said, “Unfortunately the entire track has been chopped off; it is our fault, Basu and mine. We had started this film very prematurely, without a complete script. The character had completely changed, and the film was taking so long. It is very irresponsible, and very unfair to cast a great legend like Govinda and not give justice to his role. It is very unfortunate the way things panned out. I feel truly apologetic about it, but it is for the best for the film that we had to cut that track out.” (Also Read: Katrina Kaif’s words on working with Ranbir Kapoor post breakup are truly emotional)

Talking about the movie, it also stars Katrina Kaif and will be releasing on July 14, 2017.

Sonam has THIS to say on 'PadMan' clashing with 'Padmaavat'

Actresses Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone started off their Bollywood journey in the same year. Sonam made her debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ whereas Deepika made her debut with Farah Khan’s  ‘Om Shanti Om’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Both the movies clashed at the box office then. It’s been a decade that these actresses have mesmerized us with their performances, Sonam in ‘Raanjhana’, ‘Neerja’ whereas Deepika in ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘RamLeela’ respectively. After a decade, the actresses are all set to clash at the box office again with ‘Padmaavat’ and ‘PadMan’ clashing this Republic Day weekend. (Also Read: Deepika and Sonam all set to clash at the box office after a decade. Who will win this time?)

So, at a recent media interaction for her forthcoming film ‘PadMan’, when the actress was asked that again after 10 years, her film would be clashing with Deepika Padukone’s ‘Padmaavat’ here’s what Sonam had to say, “According to me, there has been no official statement from the Producer, the PR or Sanjay Leela Bhansali that the film is releasing on January 25, 2018. So till that official statement doesn’t come, I don’t think there is any point commenting on it.”

On the contrary, officials from Viacom 18 have confirmed that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ will be releasing on January 25, the same day when ‘PadMan’ releases. And it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Sonam smartly dodged the question related to her contemporary Deepika Padukone.

Well, we would like to wish both the actresses for their movies ‘PadMan’ and ‘Padmaavat’ respectively.
