Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial 12th Fail garnered praise from all corners for its captivating content. Starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr, this real-life tale has not only captured hearts but also emerged as a triumph at the box office. It’s been over a month since the flick release and looking at the box office collection, we can say that 12th Fail has passed with flying colours at the box office. It has crossed the 50 crores net mark in its 6th week, totaling 50.68 cr net signaling a resounding success for content-driven cinema.

Made at a budget of approximately 20 crores, 12th Fail has yielded over 125% profit, earning a well-deserved hit tag. Despite new releases, the movie remained first choice among cinegoers.  However, looking at Vikrant Massey’s success story, we yet again believe that content is indeed the king and the right film with the right intentions rarely goes wrong at the box office.

About 12th Fail

12th Fail, based on a true story, draws from the struggles of the millions of students who attempt the UPSC entrance exam. But at the same time, it goes beyond that one exam and encourages people to not lose heart in the face of failure and to restart. It is inspired by Anurag Pathak’s best-selling novel, of the same name and traces the journey of IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi.

Bollywood Bubble gave 12th Fail 3.5 stars. A part of the review reads, “It is Vikrant Massey’s honesty as an actor and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s sensibility as a filmmaker that make it a hit. This take of an underdog hero deserves appreciation and the audiences’ love and we definitely need more realistic films like this in our cinema.”

Apart from Vikrant Massey, 12th fail stars Anant V Joshi in the pivotal role. It was released in theatres on 27th October in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
