Pranit More Rs 370 Biryani Row

Bigg Boss 19 fame Malti Chahar, along with actresses Rashami Desai and Ayesha Khan, have condemned Pranit More for supporting a problematic and misogynistic joke made by an audience member at his recent show. During an event in Gurugram, web developer Himanshu Jangra claimed that after spending Rs 370 on chicken biryani for a woman, he expected a “return” on that investment in the form of physical intimacy.

He further stated that when the woman asked him to drop her home after the meal, he was surprised, adding, “Maine kaha ki Rs 370 lage hain to use to wasool to karunga hi.” Instead of calling out the man, Pranit More supported his joke by laughing along and even sharing the clip on his social media account.

Malti Chahar, Rashami, Ayesha Khan Slam Pranit More Amid Rs 370 Biryani Row

Malti Chahar

Taking to her X handle on Wednesday, she expressed her anger over the Rs 370 biryani comment, and even mentioned Ram Charan’s Peddi in her tweet. Buchi Babu Sana’s film is facing backlash from a section of viewers over the hypersexualisation of the female lead, played by Janhvi Kapoor. “Rs 370 biryani and Peddi… make you realize why many women are hesitant about marriage, why we value our independence, and why we choose to split the bill. Some women are even financially supporting men entirely. Yet, we continue to be objectified, and a woman’s consent is apparently worth no more than a plate of biryani. After generations of fighting for equality, dignity, and respect, it’s disheartening that we’re still confronting the same underlying mindset,” she wrote.

Malti further added, “To all mothers and future mothers: please teach your sons to respect women and understand the importance of consent. And to the audience – it’s easy to dismiss something as ‘just a joke’ or ‘just a film,’ but media shapes culture, and women often face the real-life consequences of what gets normalized on screen. People make money by catering to the market, but as consumers, we also have a responsibility. Please be mindful of what you choose to support and encourage. Thank you.” During their time in Bigg Boss 19, Malti Chahar and Pranit More had initially grabbed eyeballs for their close friendship.

Rashmi Desai

Rashami Desai is the latest to join the list of celebrities who have spoken out on the controversy. The actor slammed Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra, and posted a reel shared by Praful Garg on her Instagram Stories. In the caption, she wrote, “Praful bhai, this is not a Comedy. It is a normal talking conversation and it has no content. They start communicating when they don’t have content or creativity. Pranit is not an artist. He’s also not a comedian.”

She added, “The fraternity will get troll for unnecessarily, this is really bad for real artist. This is really bad for real artist. And this boy has lost his job. Also Pranit ke bhi shows band hone chahiye. #Shame on Pranit. Shame on Gurgaon Boy.”

Ayesha Khan

Ayesha Khan took to Instagram to slam both of them. She especially called out Pranit for laughing at Himanshu’s problematic remark. Expressing disgust over the incident, she wrote, “The way every man in the room is laughing is scary to even watch, the way the host is laughing, the fact that iss reel ke post hone ke pehle is pe thought diya gaya hai aur phir bhi post hui hai is scary, we are not angry enough for what has happened.”

She added, “You went on a date, spent 370 rupees and you thought you had rights on the woman’s body? Where are we headed? What’s wrong?”

As criticism mounted, Himanshu issued an apology and deactivated his social media account. He was later reportedly terminated by his Gurugram-based employer.
