Gippy Grewal Sargun Mehta Carry On Jatta 4 Bombay HC

The upcoming Punjabi entertainer Carry On Jatta 4 has run into legal trouble ahead of its planned theatrical release on June 26, 2026. According to a report in the May 23, 2026, issue of Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema, Reliance Industries Ltd has approached the Bombay High Court seeking to stop the film’s release. The dispute has created uncertainty around one of Punjabi cinema’s most anticipated franchises. Scroll on to know what the controversy is about.

Reliance Ind Moves Bombay HC To Halt Release Of Carry On Jatta 4

The case stems from a contractual disagreement linked to a three-party arrangement between Reliance Industries Ltd., Panorama Studios International Ltd., and Humble Motion Pictures. Reliance claims issues over rights and release obligations under the agreement. The company has now sought urgent legal protection to prevent any alleged misuse or unauthorised release of the film.

The matter came before Justice Abhay Ahuja at the Bombay High Court. The court allowed Reliance to correct procedural defects in its commercial plaint. It also granted liberty to approach the Vacation Court for further relief.

During the hearing, Reliance’s counsel requested a status quo order. He argued that the defendants could create third-party rights over the film’s assets. On the other hand, Panorama Studios opposed the request. He stated that third-party rights had already been created before Reliance filed its application. The court noted the objections and allowed procedural corrections while keeping the matter open for further hearing.
