“Ranveer Singh Is Going To Give A Flop Film”; Filmmaker Kunal Kohli States, “Even Biggest Stars Can’t Escape It”

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has once again spoken in support of Ranveer Singh, stressing that box office results do not define an actor’s talent. The director, who earlier praised Dhurandhar, discussed how the industry often overreacts to both success and failure. Speaking about how actors face ups and downs in their careers, Kunal Kohli said, “There is nobody, whether it is the biggest of stars, who is saved from a flop film. Everybody is going to get one. You cannot not have a flop film. It is not possible. And it happens to every single actor. That does not define you. And that’s going to happen to an actor, producer, and director.”

He further added, “Ranveer Singh is going to give a hit film again, and he’s going to give a flop film again. He’s going to do everything. That’s just the way it goes. It’s not a big deal. Get over it. Is it a good film? Yes, it is. Move on. Accept it’s a flop and move on. And you learn so much from it.”

Kunal Kohli On Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Success

Kohli also pushed back against judging actors purely on box office performance. He said, “Ranveer Singh is a wonderful actor. Some of the scenes he’s done in ‘Dhurandhar’ are absolutely brilliant. There are scenes he’s done in films that haven’t worked, which are absolutely brilliant. So how does it matter? Don’t judge an actor by the success or failure of a film; that just shows your weakness as a film viewer or filmgoer if you’re going to sit and judge people just based on box office.”

This builds on Kohli’s earlier praise for Dhurandhar, where he had appreciated the film and its makers on social media. He had highlighted the film’s strong performance and Ranveer Singh’s impactful role.

On the work front, Kunal Kohli has several projects in different stages of production following the release of his 2025 romantic comedy Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story on JioHotstar. He has also recently wrapped filming on a new project with producer Deepak Roy and directors Sanjay Sonar and Nitin Wagh, featuring an ensemble cast including Vidya Malavade, Freddy Daruwala, and Farnaaz Shetty.
