EXCLUSIVE: ‘Kinjal’ Nidhi Shah Reveals The REAL Reason She Quit Rupali Ganguly-Led Anupamaa; Shares, “Mujhe Bade-Bade Bachchon Ki Maa Nahi Banna Tha”

Nidhi Shah, who gained popularity with her role as Kinjal Shah in Anupamaa, opens up about her decision to move on from the character, citing limited creative growth and her desire to step out of her comfort zone. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she reveals that despite multiple television offers, she intentionally took a break to focus on self-improvement, auditions, and expanding her journey into OTT, films, and newer formats. Nidhi Shah Opens Up About Why She Exited Anupamaa

When questioned why she stepped away from her beloved character Kinjal in Anupamaa, Nidhi Shah shared, “Ek toh kya ho gaya tha na, scenes bahut monotonous aate the, repetitive scenes ho gaye the. Second, I just felt ki ab aage mujhe badhna hai life mein. I want to do a lot more things and something that is out of my comfort zone. So I felt like it’s time for me to move on, it’s time for me to just give an end to this character.”

She added, “Personally, Kinjal ke character mein growth nahi ho rahi thi. Jo bhi uski life ki journey thi, jitni bhi thi, woh sir ne dikha di thi, writers ne dikha di thi. So I just felt ki now it’s time to end it on a good note. Toh isliye maine chhod diya. And also, sir took a leap of 5, 6, 10, 15 years, I think, after that. Toh mujhe aise bade-bade bachchon ki maa nahi banna tha, so yeah I left it.”

Nidhi Shah Talks About Her Career Plans And Projects Post Anupamaa

When asked if she transitioned straight to OTT platforms or was also offered television roles, Nidhi Shah shared, “Serials ke liye definitely bahut logon ne mujhe approach kiya. Kaafi projects ke liye logon ne bola ki we would like to cast you and so and so, par mujhe break lena tha. And I remember a lot of people on Instagram mere DMs pe mujhe message karte hain ki ‘you are not doing anything, aapko koi kaam nahi mil raha hai kya? Aap aise hi baithe ho? Aapne itna bada show kiya, so what’s next?’

Nidhi continued, “I was like ki yaar mere sapne aur bhi bahut bade hain. Anupamaa mere liye ek bahut life-changing experience hai, lekin mujhe is cheez ko apna comfort nahi banana hai. Mujhe aur aage kaam karna hai aur cheezein explore karni hain. So I took a break. I started taking a lot of workshops—doing a lot of workshops, ki acting courses karni hain, kahaan main apne aapko aur improve kar sakti hoon.”

The actress concluded, “So I started giving a lot of auditions—web series ke liye, movies ke liye, South ke liye, alag-alag OTTs ke liye main auditions de rahi thi. And I took a break also beech mein, yes I was gonna do a show but then things didn’t work out—it was Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. But I don’t know, things couldn’t work out the way they should have, so I moved on. I’m like, chalo theek hai, it’s okay, you know, there’s always another chance, there’s so much to look forward to. Toh maine ye audition diya for Sapna vs Everyone S2, and by the grace of God, I got it. And I’m very happy about it.”
