Kritika Kamra On Male Actors Coming Late On Sets

When asked if male actors are allowed to come late on sets but actresses are not, Kritika Kamra said, “Yes, it happens. Like, if a male actor is late—it’s fine, no problem. But you know what? I’ve seen this happen myself. It’s not always necessarily a gender issue. I think stars can get away with it. Stars can come late, but everyone else has to show up on time.”

Kritika Shares An Incident From Sets

The actress recalled an incident with her and shared, “Some actors, once they reach a certain level or status, have agreements that they don’t have to work as many hours as other people. Okay? So they come only for a small window. And in that limited time, their work has to be completed. I remember working once where I would be the first actor to arrive. I mean, of course, the crew has to come even earlier than the actors, so it was even more unfair for them.”

She added, “But I used to reach on time, and we shot the ‘master’ first. The master is basically the wide shot where both of us are in the frame, and then there are the close-ups. So what we used to do was—we’d shoot the master in the first half of the day. But we wouldn’t shoot both close-ups together, because the scene was dynamic, with movement. After the star wrapped up and left, we would start my close-ups from the beginning.”

Kritika Kamra was last seen in Saare Jahan Se Accha: The Silent Guardians and is filming Matka King.
