Rahul Dev

Rahul Dev, known for his powerful screen presence and impactful performances in films like Indian, Asoka, Champion, and several acclaimed negative roles across Hindi, South, and web cinema, has long been recognized as one of the industry’s most striking antagonists. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor opened up about his personal boundaries as a performer and his approach to certain kinds of roles he consciously avoids. Scroll on to know what the actor had to share.

Rahul Dev Reveals He Actively Avoids Performing R*pe Scenes In Films

Talking about his stance on taking up r*pe scenes in films, Rahul Dev clarified that his choice is deeply personal and not meant to be generalized or glorified as a standard for actors. He said, “I don’t know whether that’s great or that’s just a personal choice there, nothing. Please don’t glorify that because if you are truly an actor, frankly then you can do anything. You can play a cannibal, you can play a rapist, you can play anything and everything. You can play a dwarf, Kamal ji you know, yes Appu Raja. So you can play anything and you should be able to play.”

He further explained that while he understands the craft demands complete versatility, he has personally drawn a line due to discomfort with certain portrayals. He said, “I just feel uncomfortable at the whole thought of, you know, like… I feel so. That’s something which I have avoided. Yeah, I have been assertive, but I don’t know whether that’s a wise thing to do as an actor. Because if you have to really grow as an actor, you should truly be able to be… I mean, you should truly be comfortable with anything and everything that is asked to you, frankly. I mean, that would be a complete actor.”

Rahul also added that his discomfort stems from an internal boundary rather than industry pressure or external influence. He said,“But I am not comfortable yaar. Mujhe nahi hoon comfortable ki kisi ka rape karna hai aapko jaake. Mujhe woh… just the thought. And probably my growing up… it’s not that somebody else’s growing up has been this thing. It’s just that maybe it stayed with me more than wanting to be an actor.”
