Abhishek Sharrma Raksha Bandhan

Abhishek Sharrma has surely established himself as a household name with his performance as Devansh in the popular show Vasudha. While audiences know him for his work on screen, this Raksha Bandhan, the actor opens up about a much more personal part of his life – his bond with his sister. Abhishek believes that growing up has changed their relationship in the best possible way, making it more mature, understanding and emotionally strong.

Abhishek Sharrma On Raksha Bandhan

For Abhishek Sharrma , Raksha Bandhan is no longer about the traditional idea of a brother being the only protector. He feels that siblings should stand by each other equally. He said, “I think protection in a sibling relationship is mutual. Growing up, we often saw that in childhood, the brother is the protector and the sister is someone who needs protection. But it’s not like that; I think siblings are equal.”

For him, the festival is now more about having each other’s back. He shared, “Raksha Bandhan is less about a promise that I will protect you. It’s more about we’ll have each other’s back. I’ll always have your back, you’ll always have my back. Whatever you feel, you can be expressive, and I’ll be the same as well. That is more relevant today.”

Abhishek On His Bond With His Sister

Abhishek Sharrma added that there are times when his sister needs him, but there are also many moments when he needs her support and advice. He shared, “There are times when my sister may need me, and there are equally times when I may need her support, advice or simply her presence. And definitely, absolutely for the fashion sense, because my sister has the best fashion sense. Most of the time, I need her support; I need her help.”

Abhishek feels that growing older helped him understand his sister beyond the usual childhood arguments and competition. He said, “Over time, this relationship has gotten very mature, very understanding, very thoughtful, and I think we understand each other much better now that we have grown up.”

He continued, “As children, you mostly see the annoying side, arguments and competition, and as we grew older, you start understanding the person behind all of that. You realise that they have their own pressures and ambitions in their career and in life, and then you understand their perspective, and you start to get involved emotionally as well.”

Abhishek Sharrma also spoke proudly about his younger sister and said, “Today I think there is a lot more acceptance between us. I am always there to help her; she is my younger one I look after her. I try to understand her every problem, whatever she is, and I am so proud of whatever she has, all the things she has achieved. So yes, the relationship over the years and as we have grown older has become very emotionally strong.”

Abhishek Sharrma On Long Distance Sibling Relationships

The actor believes physical distance does not necessarily mean siblings become distant. According to him, being emotionally available matters more. He said, “If you can be physically present, then good, but emotional availability matters more. Obviously, because of your career choices, siblings have to live in different cities, so life gets busy, especially as you grow older.”

He added, “For me, the most important thing is that I am there for you 24×7, and if something happens, I am just a call away. The same goes for her.”

Abhishek feels that sometimes a simple phone call or checking in can mean more than being around every day. He shared, “Sometimes just a phone call, checking in or being someone your sibling can speak to without judgment means much more. So that is the most important thing for me.”
