EXCLUSIVE: Shahid Kapoor asserts Farzi was a ‘big risk’ – “People said ‘why are you getting into OTT?’”

Shahid Kapoor is one of the most popular and versatile actors in the Indian film industry. Over the years, he has challenged the actor within himself and given terrific performances in films like Haider, Jersey, Udta Punjab, Kaminey, and Padmaavat among others. Last year was special for Shahid as he dominated the OTT space with the release of Bloody Daddy and Farzi. For the uninitiated, Farzi was one of the most-watched web series in 2023. Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shahid opened up about his hit OTT projects.

Shahid Kapoor talks about his OTT projects

Shahid said, “There was great amount of love and that’s always gratifying as an actor and that’s pretty much want you want. You don’t want to give to people something that they have expectations and then they feel let down. You always want to be able to be at par with their expectations and on special occasions you can go beyond their expectations. That’s what I try to do for my director as an actor and that’s what I want to do as an actor for my audience you know that can I give you more than what you expected and that for me is like that’s where you want to set the bar that okay this is what you feel, let’s see how it surprise you. For me, that is exciting as an actor.”

He added, “So yes, it’s been a great year. Bloody Daddy was loved and liked. It was like a masala action film and slightly more I would say a little more real and grungy than the kind of stuff Ali (Abbas Zafar) has made. So, it was really nice to participate with him in that.“

Shahid Kapoor says Farzi was a big risk

The actor went on to add, “Farzi was amazing. Farzi was very special and it’ll always be special to me because it was a very big risk. A lot of people around said that why are you getting into OTT and you’re a mainstream actor and you just had Kabir Singh and COVID and all that was happening at that time. I just as an actor wanted to be a part of that journey, that story, and that character. I just wanted to do it. We got the result we wanted. We got more than what we expected.”

Shahid will be next seen in Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah’s directorial Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The actor will be seen sharing screen space with Kriti Sanon in the same. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is slated to release on 9^th February, 2024.
