Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs confirmed on Thursday that he declined a plea deal offered by prosecutors, setting the stage for his upcoming s*x trafficking trial next week. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs CONFIRMS Denying Plea For S*x Trafficking Trial

Combs, who was dressed in tan jail attire, responded, “Yes I did.” If convicted on all five criminal counts—including racketeering conspiracy and s*x trafficking—he faces the possibility of life in prison. Combs maintains his innocence and has pleaded not guilty. Maurene Comey, a prosecutor from the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office, told the court that Combs faces a potentially harsher sentence if found guilty at trial than if he had accepted the plea deal. She did not specify the details of the government’s offer.

Previously, prosecutor Madison Smyser revealed that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had turned down the plea deal during the s*x trafficking case hearing last week. Prosecutors allege that Combs used his business influence to coerce women into participating in long, drug-fueled s*xual performances with male s*x workers known as Freak Offs over twenty years.

Combs’ Attorney Argued Everything Was Consensual

Combs’s defence attorneys have argued that the s*xual encounters described by prosecutors were consensual. They also contend that the occasional inclusion of a third person in his relationships with longtime girlfriends was part of a “swingers” lifestyle and not criminal behaviour.

Starting Monday, New York residents summoned for jury duty will be asked through questionnaires about what they already know regarding the case. This is part of an effort to select an impartial jury panel of 12 jurors and six alternates, despite extensive media coverage. Those selected will return to court beginning May 5 for in-person voir dire questioning. Opening statements are scheduled to begin on May 12, with the trial expected to last at least eight weeks.
