Rajinikanth

Megastar Rajinikanth who had planned to visit Sri Lanka next month for inauguration of a housing scheme, has now called off the trip due to threats from the Tamil community. He had taken an appointment with Sri Lankan President to discuss over the fishermen’s issue. The visit that was organised by Lyca Productions, was to have Rajinikanth speak at a public meeting and plant tree saplings. He was very keen to discuss the issue with President Maithripala Sirisena. But, two parties Vidhuthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) were against his visit and had told him straightaway to cancel his trip. He was warned by them that if he visited the place, then he would invite trouble from the Tamil community.

In a statement, Rajinikanth stated that he wanted to discover the places where Tamils lived and died for their cause and hence he had accepted the invitation. He said, “I wanted to meet Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, to discuss and find a solution for attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen.”

Thirumavalavan had stated that his visit would mean that things are back to being normal in Sri Lanka. Rajinikanth in his reply had said, “I’m not a politician, but merely an artist.”

On the work front, the God of South cinema is busy shooting for ‘2.0’ which also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.
