Popular Tollywood actress Anushka Shetty is celebrating her 42nd birthday today, As she turns a year older, wishes are pouring in for her from all corners. Anushka dabbled in showbiz in 2005 with Nagarjuna starrer Super but reached the pinnacle of her career with her character of Devasena in the Baahubali franchise. Apart from her acting, her chemistry with co-star Prabhas was loved by the audience after which rumours about their dating started doing rounds. Even though Prabhas and Anushka Shetty have categorically denied being in a relationship, rumours about their “impending wedding” just refuse to die. On the occasion of her birthday let’s look at the times Anushka Shetty had the best response to dating rumours with Prabhas.

When Anushka Shetty confirmed not dating Prabhas

Initially, when rumours about them being in a relationship and the plan to get married surfaced, Anushka bluntly squashed them. In an event in 2018, she insisted, “Prabhas and I are not getting married. Please do not expect Baahubali and Devasena like chemistry in real life. It is only for the screen.” In an interview in the same year, she admitted, “We are just very good friends. And there’s nothing between Prabhas and me except friendship. We are definitely not getting married.”

Anushka called Prabhas her 3 a.m. friend

Even after Baahubali franchise, Anushka was quizzed about her relationship status with Prabhas. In an interview, she clearly mentioned, “I have known Prabhas for over 15 years now and he is one of my 3 am friends. We are usually linked up because both of us are not married and make an amazing on-screen pair. Had there been anything between both of us, it would have been out by this time. Both of us are the same kind of people who don’t hide any emotions if we are involved.”

For the uninitiated, the two met on the sets of Billa in 2009 and their crackling chemistry wooed the audience. Later, the duo went on to work together in films like Mirchi, Baahubali: The Beginning, and Baahubali: The Conclusion. Their relationship rumours recently gained momentum after several AI-generated pictures of them as bride and groom surfaced. Amid dating rumours, reports were also rife that the two are not getting married since their horoscope don’t match.

Anushka on reuniting with Prabhas

During the promotions of her recent movie Mr Shetty and Miss Polishetty, birthday girl Anushka Shetty was recently questioned about her on-screen reunion with Prabhas. To which she said, “That decision isn’t in my hands. While I know that fans love our pairing, it ultimately depends on a great story and vision. I hope someone writes a compelling script and character that both Prabhas and I find appealing.”

On the work front, Anushka will make her Malayalam debut with the fantasy horror drama Kathanar, which also features Jayasurya. The story is based on a legendary 9th-century Christian priest Kadamattathu Kathanar.
