Shailesh Lodha to Shivangi Joshi: Actors who have quit popular TV shows after becoming famous

Avneet Kaur who played Jasmin in Aladin Naam Toh Suna Hoga bid her farewell during the lockdown. Speaking about the same, she had told Etimes TV, "I decided to leave the show because of the coronavirus crisis. I suffered from dengue last year, but resumed work despite my immunity not being strong. There was the stress of preparing for my board exams, too, at that time. It made me really weak. So, I am scared of resuming shoots at the moment. My parents and I decided that it’s better for me to quit. I am sad, but health comes first." Later, Ashi Singh replaced Avneet.

Erica Fernandes

Erica Fernandes rose to fame after starring in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 had to quit Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi 3 as she was not happy with how her character shaped in the third season. Disappointed with her character, she mentioned, “Sonakshi a character so dear to you and me, a character that was an inspiration to many, a character who was a so strong, smart, balanced… the Sonakshi we once witnessed in seasons 1 and 2, the one we expected to see this season too but unfortunately we have to see the complete opposite of what she was. I hope you’ll always remember Sonkshi from the first 2 seasons and not how weak and confused she was made to look this season where in, in the first 2 seasons putting aside everything else. She at least had a job and an office to go to and not where she had to sit at home doing just nothing.”

Hina Khan

Hina Khan became a household name after starring in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She quit the show after the makers included the generation leap in the show. It was then carried forwarded by Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan.

Karan Singh Grover

Karan Singh Grover essayed the role of Mr Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. However, he was then replaced by Karan Patel. Although Karan did not issue an official statement about leaving the show, reports suggest that given the current Covid-19 crisis, he did not feel safe.

Reem Shaikh

Reem Shaikh gained utmost love for her character in Tujhse Hai Raabta. However, she decided to quit the show. Confirming the news to ETimes, Reem shared, "Yes, I have decided to move on because of some personal reasons and also because I want to explore my options. It has been a successful two years with the Tujhse Hai Raabta team and it is with a very heavy heart that I have taken this decision and I hope my fans keep supporting me.”

Rubina Dilaik

Rubina Dilaik gained immense love and appreciation after featuring in Shakti- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki where she played the role of a transgirl. Her character as Soumya was very well received; however, after the show run for almost 5 years, Rubina quit the show.

Saumya Tandon

Saumya Tandon essayed the role of Anita in the popular sitcom Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hain. She was loved for her character; however, during the COVID lockdown, she announced her exit. Citing her reasons, she shared, “Well, you can say that it’s an impractical decision to quit a stable job, that too, in an established show. But, I realised that being employed and earning a regular income was not exciting enough anymore. I want to do projects where there is scope for growth as an artist. Having said that, it does not mean that 'Bhabi Ji...' did not contribute to my growth, I had a beautiful journey on the show. However, I have played this character for five years now, and I don’t see myself doing it for another five years.”

Shabir Ahluwalia

Shabir Ahluwalia who became everyone’s favourite with Kumkum Bhagya is quitting the show after being a part of it for almost 8 years, as per reports. The actor is all set to take up a new role in a new show produced by Yash Patnaik

Shailesh Lodha

Shailesh Lodha who played Taarak Mehta in one of the longest-running and most popular shows Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is reportedly bidding goodbye to the show. According to the reports, the actor has not been shooting for the show for the past one month as he was unhappy with his contract and dates. It is said that he has no plans to return to the show. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, we wonder who will be replacing him.
