Veteran actor Achyut Potdar, best known for his role as a professor in 3 Idiots, passed away on August 18, 2025. He was 91 years old and took his last breath at Jupiter Hospital in Thane. The cause of his death has not been revealed yet. His passing is a great loss to Indian cinema.
Achyut Potdar Dies At 91
According to reports, Achyut Potdar had been admitted to the hospital due to health-related issues. His final rites will be performed on August 19 in Thane. He died on Monday, leaving behind a rich legacy of work in both Hindi and Marathi films and television.
Before stepping into the world of acting, Potdar had a successful career in the Indian Armed Forces and later worked with the Indian Oil Corporation. He began his acting journey in the 1980s and soon became a known face in the industry.
Over the years, he acted in many popular films like Aakrosh, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai, Ardh Satya, Tezaab, Parinda, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Dilwale, Yeh Dillagi, Rangeela, Ishq, Vaastav, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Dabangg 2, 3 Idiots, and Ventilator, among many others.
He was especially loved for his short but memorable role as a strict professor in 3 Idiots. Apart from films, Potdar also appeared in popular TV shows like Wagle Ki Duniya, Majha Hoshil Na, Mrs. Tendulkar, and Bharat Ki Khoj.
Achyut Potdar’s contributions to Indian cinema and television will always be remembered. His work touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed.
