71st National Film Awards Full Winners List: Best Actors Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey; Rani Mukerji Wins Best Actress

The full winners’ list of the 71st National Film Awards, honouring the best in Indian cinema for the year 2023, was officially announced on August 1, 2025. The announcement followed a thorough evaluation process carried out by the designated jury, which submitted its final report to Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State L. Murugan earlier that day at 4 PM.

For these awards, eligibility was limited to films that received their certification from the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. While 2023 was one of the more successful years for Indian cinema in recent times, it is well known that a film’s commercial success does not influence its chances of winning a National Film Award.

A press conference was held at 6 PM at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, where jury members officially announced the winners across various categories, including feature films, non-feature films, and cinema writing. This year’s awards were based on entries submitted by filmmakers nationwide, with the final submission deadline being September 18, 2024.
