Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is the only Bollywood film to feature on the list as it occupies the 59th spot, leaving behind ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, ‘Call Me By Your Name’, ‘Persepolis’, ‘Waltz With Bashir’, ‘Capernaum’ and ‘The Dark Night’ as well that Anurag did not agree with at all. He thought that it should have been way at the top. The list was published yesterday.

The filmmaker took to his Instagram handle to share his thoughts. He wrote, “Guardian’s list of 100 best films of 21st century. Proud to be here but this wouldn’t be my list.”

He added that there are too many of his favourite films that don’t deserve to be below his film. He added, “So many films which are my favourites can’t be below my film.. and ‘The Dark Knight’ deserves to be way up. The number 1 film in the list I totally agree with. That’s my absolute favourite of the 21st century.”

Talking about ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ he wrote, “P.S. this is also is that film of mine that totally destroyed my filmmaking life by the expectations it sets from me as a filmmaker and has been continuously so, and I have forever been trying to break away from it. Hopefully, someday that will happen.
