Piyush Mishra Reveals Why He Doesn’t Talk To Anurag Kashyap, Naseeruddin Shah; Says, “Anurag Doesn’t Think Of Himself”

Piyush Mishra recently made some startling revelations, claiming that he does not communicate with Anurag Kashyap and Naseeruddin Shah. He mentioned that Anurag talks excessively, which he sees as a problem, and that he and Shah do not share a good relationship. Veteran actor and singer who worked with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on the cult classic Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), has recently indicated that their off-screen bond has never been cordial. Known for their strong personalities and unfiltered opinions, they have often been at odds.

In a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Piyush Mishra was asked to choose between Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap as a collaborator. Without hesitation, he replied, “Imtiaz Ali, any day. He is a great director and writes amazing scripts. I feel immense satisfaction after working with him.”

Talking about Anurag Kashyap, Mishra added, “Anurag also does it, but… How shall I define Anurag Kashyap for you? Why does he talk so much? He does wrong to himself unnecessarily. You should either do good to yourself or the other person, but he doesn’t even think of himself. That’s his problem.”

He further explained his working relationship with Kashyap, clarifying that while they share creative compatibility, they are not personally compatible. “If you are going against something, then there should at least be results. The main thing is that he knows he won’t get any results, yet he keeps talking. I have a strong objection to him. We barely communicate—I can’t talk to him for a long time, and neither can he. We don’t talk, only work on films. But we work well together; we both know what we want. He also used to abuse me earlier, but now I do it only,” Mishra said.

Piyush About His Relations With Naseeruddin Shah

Regarding his relationship with Naseeruddin Shah, Mishra opened up about their complicated rapport. “I don’t have good relations with Naseer. Neither do I like him, nor does he like me. And if both parties don’t like each other, then it’s better to not talk, because you both know there’s no liking. So, there’s just no need to communicate,” he stated.

Piyush’s Recent Projects

Piyush Mishra’s latest work includes his role in the comedy film Rahu Ketu, released in January on Zee Studios, where he stars alongside Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma. Before that, he appeared in Crazxy (2025), a psychological thriller in which he lent his voice to a key character, and in Azaad (2025), which had a relatively lower profile.
