Huma Qureshi Revisits Ed Sheeran Praising Gangs Of Wasseypur

Huma Qureshi recently shared an interesting anecdote about her interaction with Ed Sheeran. In a podcast with Prakhar Gupta, the actress revealed the global music icon had watched and appreciated her debut film Gangs Of Wasseypur at Farah Khan’s Party. Sharing the moment proudly, she said, “Ultimate flex tha jab main Ed Sheeran se mili. Aur usne Gangs of Wasseypur dekhi thi. And I was like, what? You have watched Gangs of Wasseypur? Farah Khan had hosted a party for Ed Sheeran when he was in Mumbai, and everyone met him there. I was trying to have a conversation with him, and he was very sweet. He said, I love your country, and I would love to do music here.”

She further shared how she attempted to introduce him to the ‘flavour’ of India by teaching him some fun Hindi words. Recounting the moment, she added, “So, he was being called away. And I said if you want to learn some more interesting colourful language, you must watch this film of ours, Gangs Of Wasseypur. He stopped and asked, ‘You were in that movie?’ I said, ‘Yes’. He said, ‘We just saw that movie.’ And then he called his manager, and then Farah was like, ‘What have you said to him, why is he calling his manager?’ And Ed said, ‘We just watched the film. And we really loved it. It’s such a cool film.’ And I was like this is quite a cool moment.”

Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) is a critically acclaimed two-part crime epic directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film traces a violent, multi-generational feud between two families battling for dominance in the coal mafia, set against the backdrop of India’s coal belt from the 1940s to the mid-1990s. Huma Qureshi, who marked her debut with the film, portrayed Mohsina. A bold, sharp, and memorable character played by her brought both charm and complexity to the gritty narrative.

On the work front, Huma Qureshi is actively working on the highly anticipated pan-India action drama Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, this big-budget period gangster film stars Yash in the lead. Meanwhile, Huma will be playing a pivotal character named Elizabeth. The film, currently in production, is slated for a theatrical release on June 4, 2026.

Additionally, she is also reportedly backing Baby Do Die Do (2026) under her own production banner called ‘Saleem Siblings’. This marks a significant step in her journey as a producer.
