Film on musical duo Salim-Sulaiman available on iTunes

In its bid to provide exclusive and original content to its users in India, US technology giant Apple has made available ‘Shukranallah’ — a film on the lives of musical duo Salim-Sulaiman — on iTunes Store.

The film is available exclusively on iTunes Store in India for Rs 50 and on US iTunes Store for $2.99, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Extended in India in 2012, iTunes Store offers users to purchase music, buy or rent movies. The iTunes Store in India prominently features Bollywood content.

The content on iTunes is available at reasonable price. Most songs are priced at approximately Rs 10. Similarly, most movies are available for rent at Rs 80 in standard quality (Rs 120 in HD format) and can be bought for about Rs 290.

According to Apple’s website, iTunes is available in 148 countries across the world.

Apple is also reportedly rolling out an update on Tuesday that uses the iTunes Match audio fingerprint to handle syncing those songs a user has already bought. The update will allow the users to pull the right version of a song.

“The updated version would grab the studio track rather than a song from a live performance. Any of those songs that were matched inaccurately will be replaced with the correct song thanks to a rematch, but it won’t delete any of the downloaded copies,” The Loop website reported.
