Bollywood films and controversies go hand in hand, don’t they? The Hindi film industry is a soft target and becomes victim of fringe groups for hurting sentiments. Now, Anupam Kher‘s ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has been facing hurdles ever since its trailer got released.

According to news agency ANI, on Tuesday, a local court in Bihar ordered to register an FIR against Kher and 13 others in connection with the petition filed by Advocate Sudhir Ojha against the film. In his complaint, Ojha had alleged that he felt “hurt” upon viewing the promos of the movie, set for release on January 11.

‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ deals with the life of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The film is based on the book by the same name and its author is Sanjaya Baru. The film deals with the tenure of Singh when he was PM from 2004 to 2014.

The said petition was filed under IPC sections 295, 153, 153A , 293, 504 and 120B relating to promoting enmity between different groups, the sale of obscene objects, insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and criminal conspiracy.

We hope that the matter sorts itself out. Anupam Kher on record has said that playing Manmohan Singh was one of the most difficult challenges of his career and there’s nothing controversial in the film.

As of now, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is slated to release on January 11, 2019. Stay tuned to Bollywood Bubble for latest news and updates.
