Delhi HC Seeks To Communicate With Celina Jaitly’s Brother Major Vikrant Jaitly

According to the latest update from ANI, the Delhi High Court inquired whether it was possible to facilitate communication with Vikrant Jaitly. The court has directed the counsel for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to coordinate with the ministry or the UAE consulate to enable Major Vikrant Jaitly’s interaction with the court.

Currently in detention in the UAE, Vikrant Jaitly’s case remains sensitive. The court has also instructed all parties not to engage with the media without prior court approval. The matter has been scheduled for a hearing on February 12. Celina was seen leaving the Delhi High Court on Tuesday afternoon but chose not to make any statements to the media regarding the case.

Additional Details

Last week, the Delhi High Court instructed the MEA to engage Al Maree Partners, a legal firm willing to represent Vikrant Jaitly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi pro bono (free of charge). The firm was suggested by Celina’s legal counsel, Raghav Kacker, who was assisted by Advocates Madhav Agrawal and Suradhish Vats. The firm has independently obtained all necessary case details and is prepared to handle the matter without any fees.

Celina’s petition alleges that her brother was illegally abducted and detained in the UAE since September 2024. She has criticised the Centre for failing to obtain any substantive information about his welfare or legal status after more than a year. Earlier, on November 3, the court had directed the Union Ministry of External Affairs to provide legal support to Vikrant. They were ordered to facilitate communication between the siblings and appoint a designated officer to oversee the case.
