Director Neeraj Ghaywan REACTS To Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa And Janhvi Kapoor’s Homebound Entry For Oscars 2026; Talks About Martin Scorsese’s Contribution

Homebound has been selected as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category. It is directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Dharma Productions. The film features Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor. At the press conference for Homebound, director Neeraj Ghaywan talked about Homebound starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor at the Oscars 2026.

Neeraj Ghaywan On Homebound For Oscars 2026

Neeraj Ghaywan talked about Homebound India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars and said, “Right now, it hasn’t even sunk in, so I don’t even know. So we’ve said that, okay, let’s park it, let’s figure it out. But for now, let’s soak in the release on 26th September. After that, we want to think of anything. Being a part of the movie will help with the option campaign. Yes, of course, it is going to help. And we are quite privileged to have his support. He’s been so instrumental in giving us a copious amount of notes. He sent across our producer, Martin Scorsese, about the script.”

He also talked about Martin Scorsese’s contribution to the film and said, “I changed the script. His contribution to the script has been quite a lot because I’ve changed those bits. And then again, he came back when we were editing the film. He’s given feedback on the edits. So all of this selflessly. I don’t think any person… I mean, that’s the reason why he’s the biggest filmmaker in the world.”

Homebound At TIFF

Recently, Homebound was screened at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it received a standing ovation. The film was also the second runner-up in the 2025 International People’s Choice Award category at the festival.

About Homebound

Homebound is directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. It stars Janhvi, Ishaan, and Vishal in lead roles. It will be shown in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. The film is gaining international attention, especially because legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese is the executive producer. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. The co-producers are Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier. Neeraj’s last Cannes film, Masaan, was also shown in the same section back in 2015.
