The second wave of Coronavirus has hit the entire nation badly. From May 1 onwards, everyone above 18 years of age will be eligible for the Covid vaccine. Ahead of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Serum Institute of India (SII) announced that the Covishield vaccine will be provided to private hospitals for Rs 600 per dose while it will charge the state governments Rs 400. The central government will get the same vaccine for Rs 150.

Now, Farhan Ahktar has questioned the disparity between the prices and asked why the Covishield cannot be available to everyone at the same price as that to the centre.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Farhan questioning the pricing of the vaccine, tweeted, “Can a spokesperson for the @SerumInstIndia please help us understand why states should not get Covishield at the same price as the centre?? And if they have issued a statement citing reasons, could someone please share a link re the same. Thank you(sic).”

Not just Farhan even Sonu Sood questioned the prices of the vaccines. The Happy New Year actor also requested the corporates and the rich people to come forward and help get everyone vaccinated. Sonu even said that vaccines should be available for free for all the needy people.

The current shortage of oxygen and collapse of the health care system in the face of the pandemic has already added to everyone’s woes. Hopely the vaccination drive will help in curbing the spread of this deadly virus.
