Mouni Roy, who began her acting journey at a young age, has worked across television, films, and OTT platforms, earning recognition for her versatile performances. However, her path to success was not without challenges. In a recent interview, the Brahmastra actress opened up about a disturbing experience from her early days in the industry that left her deeply shaken.
Mouni Roy On Casting Couch
While speaking to Apoorva Mukhija on Spice It Up, Mouni shared that although she never faced the casting couch, she did encounter inappropriate behaviour. She recalled being just 21 or 22 years old when she visited an office for a narration session. “There was a scene where the girl falls into a swimming pool, loses consciousness, and the hero gives her mouth-to-mouth respiration. Suddenly, the man held my face and demonstrated it on me,” she said.
The incident caught her completely off guard. “In that one split second, I didn’t understand what had happened. I started shaking and immediately ran out. It really scarred me for a long time,” Mouni added, describing how the experience left a lasting emotional impact on her.
Despite such early setbacks, Mouni has carved a strong space for herself in the entertainment industry. She was recently seen in the horror-comedy The Bhootnii, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Singh, and Palak Tiwari. Currently, she is filming Madhur Bhandarkar’s The Wives and has Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai slated for a 2026 release.
On OTT, she starred in the spy thriller series Salaakar with Naveen Kasturia, which is reportedly getting a sequel soon. Mouni’s courage in speaking about her past while continuing to move forward in her career serves as an inspiration to many young artists.
