Main Hoon Na

Main Hoon Na was released in 2004 and marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut. Even today, it stands tall as one of the most loved entertainers of the decade. Headlined by Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen, the film also featured Suniel Shetty, Amrita Rao and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles. Over the years, fans have revisited the film for its music, drama and unforgettable characters. However, a recent revelation from Farah has now added an interesting twist to its casting story.

Sushmita Sen Wasn’t Farah Khan’s First Choice For Main Hoon Na

In her latest vlog, Farah visited Sameera Reddy’s home in Goa along with her cook Dilip. During their warm and candid conversation, the filmmaker surprised Sameera by revealing that she had originally considered her, not Sushmita, for the iconic role of Miss Chandani. The confession left the Race actress visibly stunned.

Farah explained that she had spotted Sameera in her music video Ahista Kijiye Baatein and instantly felt she fit the part. Reminiscing about those days, she said, “Nobody knows this, but I had considered you for Main Hoon Na in Sushmita Sen’s role. I had seen your song, Ahista Kijiye Baatein, and you were dressed in Indian wear.”

Hearing this, Sameera reacted with disbelief and exclaimed, “Oh My God! I want to know why you didn’t take me.” Farah quickly clarified that by then, Sameera had already signed her debut film, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, opposite Sohail Khan, featuring Sanjay Dutt and Kabir Bedi, which locked her dates and made the casting impossible. What followed, of course, became Bollywood history.

Sushmita Sen’s Iconic Miss Chandani

Sushmita stepped into the role of the graceful and glamorous Miss Chandani and completely owned it. From chiffon sarees to slow-motion entries and effortless charm, she turned the character into a pop-culture moment. Her chemistry with Shah Rukh, combined with her elegance and comic timing, made Miss Chandani one of Hindi cinema’s most memorable teachers. Even today, fans associate the film with her iconic look and screen presence.

Sameera Reddy’s Career Journey

Meanwhile, Sameera carved her own path in the industry. After debuting with Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, she went on to star in several Hindi and South films, building a diverse filmography over the years.
