Nitin Rao On Working With O’Romeo Co-Stars Shahid Kapoor, Avinash Tiwary & Vikrant Massey

When asked if he had any interaction with Farida Jalal, Nitin said, “Nahi, unke saath mera shoot nahi tha. Mera Nana sir ke saath bhi shoot nahi tha. Mera mostly Triptii, Shahid aur Vikrant ke saath tha.”

Rao Recalls Massey’s Support

Talking about spending time on O’Romeo sets, Nitin Rao added, “Vikrant (Massey) bahut hi supporting actor hain. Matlab hum kya hi the unke saamne us din — woh toh humein jaante bhi nahi the. But pata chalta hai ki woh kitne hardworking actor hain aur kitna support karte hain co-artists ko. Unka ek scene tha — main zyada detail mein nahi bata sakta, but ek scene mein unki requirement bhi nahi thi. Camera idhar laga hua tha, woh camera ke peeche na bhi hote toh chal jaata. Aur unka koi dialogue bhi nahi tha. Phir bhi unhone direction team ko bola ki, ‘Nitin ka jab take hoga toh mujhe bulana, main saamne rahunga, main hi cue dunga.’

He concluded, “Jabki unki requirement hi nahi thi, sirf look tha. Is level pe woh support kar rahe the. Jab aapke paas itni khoobsurat cast hoti hai, jo aapke kaam ko itna support kare aur chhoti-chhoti cheezon se enhance kar de — toh woh bahut matter karta hai. Mera first day hi bahut accha ho gaya tha kyunki Vikrant bhi mujhe support kar rahe the. Triptii was also very good. Ek scene mein maine thoda improvisation kiya — woh script mein nahi tha. Maine ek action kiya jo Triptii ko pata nahi tha. Unka reaction bilkul natural aur supportive aaya, exactly jo scene ko chahiye tha. Jab woh scene aayega, tab detail mein baat karenge.”

Talking about Shahid Kapoor, he said, “Aur Shahid ke saath bhi jab maine shoot kiya, main bahut comfortable tha. He is very chill, very chill. Apne hi vibe mein rehte hain. Unka speaker bhi tha set pe, gaane bajate rehte the. Matlab bahut hi chill environment tha.”

Nitin Praises ‘Jalal’ Avinash Tiwary’s Transformation

While speaking about transformations, Nitin spoke about Avinash Tiwary as Jalal; he said, “Kisi ne socha hi nahi tha ki Avinash yeh character kar sakta hai. Jaise hi trailer aayega, log bolenge, ‘Oh sh*t!’ Aap jo bol rahe the na typecasting wali baat — dekho, kisi ne socha tha ki Avinash negative character kar sakta hai? Jab unki pehli film Laila Majnu thi — ek romantic hero image thi. Ab actors bhi experiment kar rahe hain, directors bhi kar rahe hain — aur yeh cinema ke liye bahut acchi baat hai. Aaj ke time mein audience aapko turant reject kar deti hai agar aap kuch naya nahi dikhate. Agar aap wahi same character repeat karte rahoge, toh logon ko accha nahi lagta.”
