Priyanka Chopra Reveals She Was FORCED To Announce Daughter Malti Marie’s Birth; Says, “It Was A Traumatic Time”

Priyanka Chopra shared heartfelt details about the challenging and emotional time after the birth of her daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. She revealed that Nick Jonas would sing to Malti on his guitar inside the NICU, while she softly played all her mantras inside her crib.

Priyanka Chopra Recalls Being FORCED To Announce Daughter Malti’s Birth

Speaking on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Priyanka recounted, “We went with her to the NICU. Only one of us was allowed at a time, and she cried the first time—like a kitten. That was all we could get. My mom and in-laws flew down, but we stayed in the hospital. It was such a personally traumatic time. We were in and out of the hospital, and I remember hearing that her birth was going to be leaked to the press. They gave us three hours to announce it ourselves, but we weren’t ready because we didn’t know how she would be or what the future held for her.”

She also shared that during those three months, they “stopped everything” and were present at the hospital every day. “Nick would sing to her on his guitar, and I had this little iPod playing all my mantras—Mahamrityunjay, Gayatri, Om Namah Shivaya—all softly inside her crib. Many people were praying for her. She was very desired, cherished, and treasured. Her journey to this world was so hard,” Priyanka added.

Regarding her family, Priyanka married Nick Jonas in 2018 in Rajasthan, with a blend of Christian and Hindu ceremonies. They welcomed Malti in January 2022. Although Priyanka previously shared her daughter’s photos on social media, she has not done so recently.

As for her latest projects, Priyanka stars in The Bluff, directed by Frank E. Flowers, which follows a former pirate trying to leave behind a violent past and protect her family, set against a gritty backdrop. The cast includes Karl Urban, Safia Oakley-Green, Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Zack Morris, and David Field. The film is produced by the Russo brothers’ AGBO banner.

Fans can also look forward to Priyanka in the second season of the web series Citadel. Additionally, she is set to make her Telugu debut in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, scheduled for release on April 7, 2027. In the film, Priyanka will play the role of Mandakini.
